Basics of creating new databases

When you did the complete installation of the program, a database of examples was installed on your computer that will allow you to start browsing the program and become familiar with it quickly. On this database you can make changes, add equipment, add spare parts, etc. etc. allowing you to take tests and facilitating learning.

Once you decide to start the implementation, you must create a new database with all the blank records where you will start to load your information or, if you are already a user.

To do this, you must have defined the database engine and its location, whether you want to host it on your computer, on a virtual machine, on all kinds of networks (Wan, Lan, Wlan, Vlan, etc.), on a server in the cloud, etc.

Multi Databases:

The MP allows you to create several databases to independently control the maintenance of different industrial plants, buildings, areas, etc.

The management of independent databases is convenient to facilitate their administration and depends on the structure and organization of maintenance of each company or corporate. For example, for a large hotel corporation, it will surely be more convenient to manage a separate database per hotel. Or, it is also possible that, in the case of an industrial plant, the vehicle fleet maintenance administration is managed by an area independent from the area in charge of maintaining the facilities. But as already mentioned, this way of organizing information in independent databases is optional and depends on the maintenance structure of each company or corporate.

Example:

Database name
See characters and allowed length.
Name of the access to the database
What is this?
Long description of the database
PLANTA_SPEREN_1 ACCESS TO PLANTA_SPEREN_1 SPEREN PLANT INDUSTRIAL PARK EXPORTEC II
PLANTA_SPEREN_2 ACCESS TO PLANTA_SPEREN_2 SPEREN PLANT HUEHUETOCA INDUSTRIAL PARK
PLANTA_SPEREN_3 ACCESS TO PLANTA_SPEREN_3 SPEREN PLANT JILOTEPEC INDUSTRIAL PARK
HOTEL_Mara_A ACCESS TO HOTEL_Mara_A Hotel All Inclusive Mara Place, Cancun, QR
HOTEL_Mara_B ACCESS TO HOTEL_Mara_B Grand Executive Hotel Mara Place Mexico City
HOSPITAL_TRAUMATOLOGIA ACCESS TO HOSPITAL_TRAUMATOLOGIA Loma Verdes Traumatology Hospital, Naucalpan
HOSPITAL_NEUROLOGY ACCESS TO HOSPITAL_NEUROLOGY National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery, CDMX
FLOAT_1 ACCESS TO FLOTILLA_1 Fleet Cars and trucks SPEREN EXPORTEC II

In the Database and User Administrator application, MP also allows you to determine who or who will have permission to access each database.

What is an access to the databases?

When you create a database, an access to the database is automatically created. The access is a file that contains encoded all the information regarding the IP or name of the server where the database is located. This information is also recorded in a QR code, which will facilitate the connection of mobile devices to the database.

Database selection when entering the application

When executing any of the programs of the MP suite, the first thing that appears is a window asking the user to select the access of the database with which he wishes to work.

With the secondary button you can consult the access information to each database.

The QR code that appears in the window will be very useful to facilitate the connection of mobile devices to the database. For more information, see mobile applications connection MPmobile y MPsolicitudes.

After selecting the database, the main menu appears. At the bottom of the main menu, the name of the selected database, the type of database and the IP of the server where it is located, as well as the user name appear.

If you want to change databases, double click on the name of the database to bring up the database selector again.

Also, the tools icon located in the upper right corner of the screen allows us to change databases.

How do I create a new database?

There are two options for creating new databases.

Option 1. - From the applications of the MP Suite.

Please note: Depending on the application you choose, you will create a new database for that application. For example, if you do it from the Spare Parts Inventory application, from there you can create a new Spare Parts Inventory database.

Option 2. - From the desktop application Database and User Manager.

Next, we will explain the creation of DB from the applications of the MP Suite and what is explained here applies equally when we create databases from the Database and User Administrator.

The Database and User Administrator, in addition to creating databases, allows you a more complete administration of the databases, with tools that allow you to edit a connection, register users and establish permissions for each user, make backups , etc.

Step 1.  When executing the program, select the option "Start using my databases".

Step 2. Click on the button Next.

Step 3. Click on the button Add a data base.

Step 4.
Choose the Simplified option If you are not familiar with the management of servers and database engines and do not intend to share your database with other users.

Choose the Advanced option if you are going to share your databases in the cloud or on your company network with other MP users.

Step 5. Click the button Next.

Simplified option for creating databases on your local computer

Choosing this option will automatically create a Firebird type database on your computer. You will only have to assign a name to the database and a brief description to start working with it.

This option is useful and the most practical if you are not familiar with handling database servers and engines and you do not intend to share your database with other users.

If you are going to share your database with other users, our recommendation is that you use the advanced option, locating it from the beginning on a server with its respective database engine.

Notwithstanding the previous recommendation, it is worth mentioning that if you created your database with the simplified option and later want to change the location of the database or convert it to another database engine, MP lets you do it.

Upon selecting this option, the following screen appears:

The IP 127.0.0.1 refers to the fact that the database will be created on the hard drive of your computer where you are carrying out the process of creating the database.

The database name refers to the name of the Firebird-type database file with the extension .fdb that will be created on your computer. See characters and allowed length.

Click on next and a new window will appear that allows you to supplement with a brief description of the database. This description is up to 50 characters long and has no limitations on special characters:

Example:

Database name
See characters and allowed length.
Name of the access to the database
What is this?
Long description of the database
PLANTA_SPEREN_1 ACCESS TO PLANTA_SPEREN_1 SPEREN PLANT INDUSTRIAL PARK EXPORTEC II
PLANTA_SPEREN_2 ACCESS TO PLANTA_SPEREN_2 SPEREN PLANT HUEHUETOCA INDUSTRIAL PARK
PLANTA_SPEREN_3 ACCESS TO PLANTA_SPEREN_3 SPEREN PLANT JILOTEPEC INDUSTRIAL PARK
HOTEL_Mara_A ACCESS TO HOTEL_Mara_A Hotel All Inclusive Mara Place, Cancun, QR
HOTEL_Mara_B ACCESS TO HOTEL_Mara_B Grand Executive Hotel Mara Place Mexico City
HOSPITAL_TRAUMATOLOGIA ACCESS TO HOSPITAL_TRAUMATOLOGIA Loma Verdes Traumatology Hospital, Naucalpan
HOSPITAL_NEUROLOGY ACCESS TO HOSPITAL_NEUROLOGY National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery, CDMX
FLOAT_1 ACCESS TO FLOTILLA_1 Fleet Cars and trucks SPEREN EXPORTEC II

Advanced option for creating databases in the cloud or on a network

(Firebird, SQL, MySQL, MariaDB and Oracle)

You choose the server of database engine of your preference and the location of your databases:
Free to use: You can host the Databases in:
- The user's PC
- Virtual teams
- All types of networks (Wan, Lan, Wlan, Vlan, etc.)
- Servers or webhosting in the cloud
- On our servers in the cloud if you hired the service MPcloud o MPhosting
Firebird
MySQL
MariaDB
Owner or commercial:
Microsoft SQL-Server
Oracle

If you have a network in your company, most likely they already have one of the MP-compatible database engines installed on their servers. If not, before continuing with the creation of a database, it is necessary to install and configure one of the database engines compatible with the MP.

Your IT or systems department will be able to advise you on the database engine they use and indicate the location for the database, in accordance with the infrastructure and IT policies of the company

Before proceeding with the creation of your database, it is important that you take into account certain particularities that you must configure depending on the database engine that you are going to use..

Please note:
If you hired the cloud hosting service MPcloud y MPhosting, you don't need to configure anything. The database engine is now configured to start creating your databases.

Once the above has been considered and the relevant settings have been made in your database engine, select the database engine to be used in the next MP window and click Next.

In all cases, including MPcloud y MPhosting, the following window will appear asking you for the server and database engine information:

MPcloud or MPhosting:

In the event that you have contracted the service MPcloud o MPhosting, the MPsoftware team provides you with this information in your purchase detail, which we send you at the time of contracting the service.

In the first field, write down the IP address of your database server or server name where your MP database will be located. In the particular case of Oracle, you will need to write down the System ID of the Oracle service. What is this?

In the next two fields write down the name of a user and password with permissions and privileges to create the database in the selected engine. For more information, see What is this?

In the last field write down the name that you will assign to the database. See characters and allowed length.. By pressing next, you will have another field of up to 50 characters that will allow you a broader and more complete description of the database.

Example:

Database name
See characters and allowed length.
Name of the access to the database
What is this?
Long description of the database
PLANTA_SPEREN_1 ACCESS TO PLANTA_SPEREN_1 SPEREN PLANT INDUSTRIAL PARK EXPORTEC II
PLANTA_SPEREN_2 ACCESS TO PLANTA_SPEREN_2 SPEREN PLANT HUEHUETOCA INDUSTRIAL PARK
PLANTA_SPEREN_3 ACCESS TO PLANTA_SPEREN_3 SPEREN PLANT JILOTEPEC INDUSTRIAL PARK
HOTEL_Mara_A ACCESS TO HOTEL_Mara_A Hotel All Inclusive Mara Place, Cancun, QR
HOTEL_Mara_B ACCESS TO HOTEL_Mara_B Grand Executive Hotel Mara Place Mexico City
HOSPITAL_TRAUMATOLOGIA ACCESS TO HOSPITAL_TRAUMATOLOGIA Loma Verdes Traumatology Hospital, Naucalpan
HOSPITAL_NEUROLOGY ACCESS TO HOSPITAL_NEUROLOGY National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery, CDMX
FLOAT_1 ACCESS TO FLOTILLA_1 Fleet Cars and trucks SPEREN EXPORTEC II

In the event that you want to host your database on a server in the cloud or web hosting of your preference other than MPcloud o MPhosting, you can also do it. Most web hosting service providers include the MySQL database engine. Consult your service provider who will be able to tell you if your contracted service includes a database engine, as well as the server's IP, username, password and data storage capacity.
