Introduction to connecting the programs installed on your computer with databases

 

Except in the case that you have hired the hosting service MPhosting,

the MP suite programs install, run and run on your local computer.

The information you register in the MP is stored in databases and these can be shared by several users at the same time, so that

The databases can be hosted in:

  • User's PC
  • Virtual teams
  • All types of networks (Wan, Lan, Wlan, Vlan, etc.)
  • Servers or webhosting in the cloud
  • On our servers in the cloud if you hired the MPcloud or MPhosting service

There is then the need to carry out a connection of the programs installed on each computer with the respective databases previously created.

If you don't do it like that, the programs won't know where the information you want to access is located. Then then, before creating a connection, you must have created a database or have migrated your databases from version 9 to version 10. This connection process is carried out by creating Access on each of the computers where one of the programs of the MP suite is installed.

Access is a file hosted on your local computer that contains encrypted all the information regarding the IP or server name and the names of the database (s) to which each program will have access.

Create an access on your computer to connect to a database

Remember that:

There are two options for creating accesses to databases.

Option 1. From the MP Suite applications

Option 2. From the Database and User Administrator desktop application

Please note:
Next, we will explain the Option 1 for the creation of an access to databases and what is explained here applies practically the same when we do it from the Option 2.

Then then when executing any of the MP Suite applications, choose the option "Start using my databases".

Click on the Next.

Click on the Add a data base.

Choose "Connect to a base of MP ver.10"

Click on the Next.

Indicate the server access data and the name of the database to which you want to connect.

In the first field write down the IP address of your database server or name of the server where your database is located. What is this?

In the next two fields write down the name of a user and password with permissions and privileges to create databases and connections in the selected engine. For more information, see What is this?

MPcloud or MPhosting:

In the event that you have contracted the service MPcloud o MPhosting, the MPsoftware team provides you with this information in your purchase detail, which we send you at the time of contracting the service.

Type a name as you will identify the access to the selected database and a long description that will allow you a more detailed identification of the access.

Important note.
The process described here, you do not have to repeat it every time you enter the MP, since the access and all the information thereof is recorded on your local computer. To access the information in your databases, when entering the MP you only have to select the name you assigned to access.

Connection of databases with mobile devices

When executing any of the programs of the MP suite, the first thing that appears is a window asking the user to select the access of the database with which they want to work

With the secondary button you can consult the access information to each database.

This information is also recorded in a QR code, which will facilitate the connection of mobile devices to the database.
