Minimum level: refers to the point where it is suggested to perform again a replenishment of material. Properly defining this level is essential for not getting to run out of stock.

  • A low value can cause that followed we run out of stock.
  • A higher value makes the cost of our inventory is high.
  • It is suggested to contemplate in occasions the problem to purchase the item, the cost of replacement, or how serious it may be a fault in the equipment and do not have stock of the spare parts.

Optimal level: it is the level at which we want to make a purchase. Usually stocks fluctuate between 0 and the optimal level.

Maximum level: it is the level which suggests never to pass. This level can be defined many times by the cost of the spare parts or for the space you need to store it, among others.

Time of procurement: is the time it takes to get a replacement, since it is generated by a request, until it is received in our warehouse. To set correctly this time we must consider the time it takes for us to us internally as a company until it generates the purchase order, the time it takes for the supplier to send us the product and the time perhaps of the carrier among others.

The time of organ procurement is critical, because if we create a requisition exceeded this time, it is likely that reaches the point at which we run out of stock even having made advance for an order.

It is recommended that, if possible, to establish the minimum levels of spare parts and consumables, the time coverage of what we would cover these stocks is always larger at the time of procuring of each of the products. This with the aim of avoiding mishaps. Later we will talk about the time of coverage of the spare parts.
